Matwork

The Pilates method on the mat: core, posture and control, using your own body weight.

What is Matwork

Matwork is the original form of the Pilates method: bodyweight exercises on the mat, sometimes with small equipment, that work on the centre of the body (the “powerhouse”), breathing and precise movement.

Without the Reformer's springs to support you, your body does all the work: that makes Matwork a great way to build strength and control, and a perfect complement to Reformer classes.

Benefits

Why it's good for you

Core and stability

Strengthen your deep abdominals, back and pelvis.

Posture

A more aligned body and less tension in daily life.

Control

Precise, mindful movement guided by your breath.

Wherever you are

What you learn on the mat you can take home with you.

Who it's for

For every level

Matwork suits both beginners and experienced people: every exercise has a simpler and a more intense version. It's also ideal if you do Reformer and want to strengthen the foundations of the method.
