How often should you do Pilates to see results?

It's one of the questions we're asked most often. The short answer: consistency matters more than numbers. Here's how to find the right rhythm for you.

Consistency comes first

Pilates works on control, posture and deep strength: qualities that improve with repetition. An occasional class is good for you, but it's weeks of regular practice that make the difference. One class a week for months beats three a week for a few weeks and then nothing.

How many classes, depending on your goal

  • 1 class a week: a good starting point to learn the method and maintain mobility and wellbeing. Progress comes, with a little more patience.
  • 2 classes a week: the pace we recommend if you want to see real progress in strength, posture and control, while giving your body time to recover.
  • 3 classes a week: for those who already have a good foundation and want to progress faster, perhaps alternating Reformer, Matwork and Yoga.

When you'll see results

Every body is different, so it's hard to give exact timings. Usually the first things people notice are greater posture awareness and the feeling of moving better; strength and tone come with regular practice. Your instructor follows you class after class and tells you when you're ready for the next level: see how the levels work on the Levels and classes page.

How to plan it

  • Set fixed days and times, like an appointment with yourself: it's the easiest way not to skip.
  • Leave a day between classes when you can, especially at the beginning.
  • Choose a package that fits your rhythm: see all the options in Packages and prices.
  • Book ahead from the timetable: groups are small and spots are limited. And if something comes up, cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do Pilates every day?

Pilates is low impact, but recovery is part of training too. For most people 2–3 classes a week is a great balance.

Is one class a week worth it?

Yes: done consistently, even one class a week improves posture, mobility and body awareness.
